The Color Guard is a unit of the marching band that contributes an additional layer of performance and storytelling. At South Laurel, the guard is known for its extraordinary cast of performers each season. Members of the South Laurel Color Guard train extensively in dance, flag, and rifle year-round in order to achieve this excellence. The guard has won numerous accolades over the years, including Best Color Guard awards from local and regional competition circuits during the marching band season.

In 2023, South Laurel debuted its first winter guard which competed in the Tri-State Marching Arts circuit. The group completed their inaugural season with a gold medal in the Scholastic Regional A class at TMA Championships.

The guard enhances each and every show and the South Laurel Band would not be the same without them!
